Planning a Memorable Stay in Berkeley

Guests from around the world — including out-of-town family, visiting scholars, newcomers to the area, and locals seeking respite from home renovation projects — enjoy this lovely, private, and peaceful hideaway for stays from 3 nights to 3 weeks or longer. We offer B&B ambiance with access to our gourmet kitchen and bountiful organic garden for light meal preparation and laundry for longer stays. Our home has also become a safe refuge for many people with chemical sensitivities.

We’re located just 2 miles north of UC Berkeley campus, a short walk to charming Kensington village — which boasts a grocery store, pharmacy with Post Office, wine shop, deli, restaurant, ATM machine, and more — and near public transit. Here you are 5 minutes from Tilden Park, a 2077-acre jewel of urban wilderness, 7 minutes from Chez Panisse and Berkeley’s famed Gourmet Ghetto, 30 minutes from either San Francisco or Marin, and just over an hour from the glorious Pt. Reyes National Seashore, Sonoma County, or Napa Valley. Street parking is safe and plentiful.

The Asia Suite boasts an en suite bath with shower, a very supportive and comfortable queen-size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets, goose down pillows, beautiful furnishings & art, plentiful closet & dresser space, and lovely natural light. The adjacent Library, a cozy room with travel books and wonderful art from around the world, can be outfitted with a twin or queen Aerobed, down pillows, and a fluffy comforter. Hypo-allergenic pillows are available on request. Friendly stuffed animals and finger puppets delight our younger guests.

From time to time, the entire home — 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps up to 7 — is available to rent. 

We warmly welcome parents with infants and children who will be safe and comfortable in a home with many tempting and breakable artifacts, glass tabletops, and an open stairwell.

We use only eco-friendly cleaning products in this fragrance-free, shoes-off, NON-SMOKING home. Since doing a deep green renovation in 2006, we've hosted many grateful guests with chemical and fragrance sensitivities. To accommodate them, we ask that ALL guests refrain from bringing any scented personal care products or we will store them away from the living quarters during your stay. We provide unscented soap, shampoo, conditioner, styling lotion, shaving cream, after-shave, and body lotion at no extra charge.

We have no pets and, regrettably, cannot accommodate yours.
